A Place To Bury Strangers kündigen mit dem Video zur Single „Never Coming Back“ ihr neues Album an. „Pinned“ ist bereits die fünfte Platte der Noiserocker aus Brooklyn und wird Mitte April erscheinen. Mit dem neuen Album im Gepäck kommt die Band dann auch für vier Konzerte nach Deutschland.
Über die erste Single „Never Coming Back“ erzählt Gitarrist und Sänger Oliver Ackerman folgendes: „That song is a big concept, you make these decisions in your life… you’re contemplating whether or not this will be the end. You think of your mortality, those moments you could die and what that means. You’re thinking about that edge of the end, deciding whether or not it’s over. When you’re close to that edge, you could teeter over.“
Vor ein paar Jahren haben A Place To Bury Strangers eine dieser großen Entscheidungen getroffen, von denen Ackermann bei „Never Coming Back“ spricht. Auf der Suche nach einem neuen Drummer traf Bassist Dion Lunadon Lia Simone Braswell, die erst kürzlich von Los Angeles nach Brooklyn umgezogen war. Lunadon sah sie spielen und fragte Braswell, ob sie mal bei einer Bandprobe vorbei kommen wolle. Braswell etablierte sich nicht nur schnell als neue Schlagzeugerin der Band, sie steuert sowohl bei „Never Coming Back“ als auch bei anderen Songs auf „Pinned“ Vocals bei und eröffnet damit der Band völlig neue Dimensionen.
„As things go on, you don’t want them to be stagnant,“ bemerkt Ackermann. „Being a band for ten years, it’s hard to keep things moving forward. I see so many bands that have been around and they’re a weaker version of what they used to be. This band is anti-that. We try to push ourselves constantly, with the live shows and the recordings. We always want to get better. You’ve got to dig deep and take chances, and sometimes, I questioned that. It took really breaking through to make it work. I think we did that.“
A Place To Bury Strangers werden mit dem neuen Album im Gepäck für vier Konzerte nach deutschland kommen, und zwar am 18. April in den Schlachthof Wiesbaden, am 28. April nach Dortmund ins FZW, am 7. Mai nach Berlin ins BiNuu und am 8. Mai nach Hamburg ins Logo.
