Bombay Bicycle Club präsentieren mit „Racing Stripes“ einen weiteren Track aus ihrem neuen Album
Bombay Bicycle Club haben Ende letzter Woche ihren neuen Song „Racing Stripes“ veröffentlicht – nach „Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)“ und dem Titeltrack bereits der dritte Track aus dem kommenden, fünften Studioalbum „Everything Else Has Gone Wrong“ der Band. Die Platte wird am 17. Januar erscheinen.
„Racing Stripes“ war für die Band ein echter Durchbruch bei der Arbeit an dem neuen Album, da der Song während einer Zeit in Cornwall entstand, in der es Sänger Jack Steadman schwer fiel, zu schreiben. „It’s a good example of the emotional rollercoaster you go through. I was like, this is it, I can’t do this any more, and then the next morning you’re like, ah, this is a really good song. The relief!“, erzählt er.
„Racing Stripes is the first song we’ve done where I feel you could have a lighter in the air and sing along to it,“ ergänzt Gitarrist Jamie MacColl. Der Refrain mit der Zeile „This light will keep me going“ spricht in die Zukunft, erzählt von dem, was die Band bisher gemeinsam erlebt hat und vor allem davon, was noch vor ihnen liegt.
