Moaning veröffentlichen mit „Make It Stop“ eine weitere Single aus ihrem kommenden Album „Uneasy Laughter“
Die US-Postpunk-Band Moaning hat mit „Make It Stop“ eine weitere Single aus ihrem kommenden Album „Uneasy Laughter“ veröffentlicht. Der zweite Longplayer der Band wird am 20. März bei Sub Pop erscheinen.
Sänger und Gitarrist Sean Solomon sagt über die Single: „The song is about questioning negative thoughts but struggling to find a solution. Being stuck in your head. There was a period of time where I thought everyone hated me and was out to get me. Now I realize no one actually is putting that much energy into thinking about me at all. Depression can be extremely narcissistic. I encourage people who relate to this song to call someone and ask for help.“ Zum Video ergänzt er: „The whole band made a collage for the video. It was really fun piecing different elements together. We also added some extra surprises. The dimensions of the collage are 1920 by 40.000 pixels. It’s a big ass thing!“
Das neue Album „Uneasy Laughter“ hellt den vormals klaustrophobischen Sound von Moaning deutlich auf. Unterstützt wurde die Band von Produzent Alex Newport. Solomon, der während der Aufnahmen ein Jahr lang nüchtern blieb, räumt ein, dass „Uneasy Laughter“ auch eine ganz andere Richtung hätte einschlagen können, wenn er sich nicht über Kernthemen wie Geschlecht und psychische Gesundheit aufgeklärt hätte: „I did a lot of reading in the tour van — „All About Love“ and ‘“Ain’t I A Woman“ by Bell Hooks, „Capitalist Realism“ by Mark Fisher and „How Proust Can Change Your Life“ by Alain de Botton. I don’t want to be the guy who influences young people to go get high and become cliched tragic artists,“ erklärt er. „What I’d rather convey to people is that they’re not alone in what they think and how they feel.“
