Das US-Indierock-Trio Sadgirl kündigt mit dem Video zur Single „Chlorine“ sein Debütalbum an. „Water“ wird Mitte Juni über das Label Suicide Squeeze erscheinen.
Auf 16mm-Film, in und um einen Wohnwagenpark gedreht, folgt die Geschichte Chlorine, als sie mit ihrem Freund (Sänger und Gitarrist Misha Lindes) auf einem Moped die Stadt verlässt und ihre Mutter zurücklässt. Doch als ihre Mutter versucht, sie nach Hause zu bringen, gehen Chlorine und Misha auf eine rücksichtslose Verbrechenstour, die Chlorine in ein moralisches Dilemma bringt.
Misha Lindes zum Video: „Chlorine is a melancholy ballad about loving someone, knowing it’s destroying you, and loving them anyway. It’s also a bit of a tongue in cheek variation on classic love songs which feature a „femme fatale“ archetype. In an ideal world the track sonically calls back to the likes of „Cigarettes and Coffee“ by Otis Redding, which I was obsessively listening to while working on Chlorine. I always imagined Chlorine as this John Waters trailer park princess. When Nathan (the director) and myself first got together to brainstorm video ideas we started working on this crime caper between lovers, in which ultimately Chlorine has a plan of her own, casts her spell and leaves her lover in the dust.“
