Gordi kündigt mit dem Video zur Single „Heaven I Know“ ihr Debütalbum an
Gordi ist der Spitzname von Sophie Payten, die in einem kleinen Städtchen in Australien aufgewachsen ist und nun für den Ende August ihr Debütalbum „Reservoir“ auf Jagjaguwar ankündigt. Es wurde von Tim Anderson, Ali Chant und Alex Somers produziert und in Wisconsin, Reykjavik, Los Angeles, New York und Sydney aufgenommen.
Gordi hat es also nicht nur aus ihrem kleinen Heimatstädtchen raus geschafft, sondern zusammen mit ihren neuen Freunden und Kollaborateuren von Bon Iver auch ins US-Fernsehen, wo sie bei Jimmy Fallon gemeinsam den Track „8 (Circle)“ performten. Auf ihrem großartigen Album „Reservoir“ hat Gordi nun eine bemerkenswerte Sammlung von schimmernden Indiepop-Songs versammelt, die unbedingt gehört werden müssen.
Über den Albumtitel sagt Gordi: „The name ‚Reservoir‘, it’s that thing that you can’t describe, that space that anxious people would probably live their life in. It’s actually an expression my friend and I use. If I’m really down one day, I’ll say, ‚Oh I’m a bit in the reservoir today‘. You’re mulling everything over, and you’re sitting in all these thoughts and feelings. In order to be able to write a song I need to go to that place, but I couldn’t live a functional life if I spent all my time in there.“
