Alex Lahey kündigt mit neuer Single ihr Album „The Best Of Luck Club“ an
Die in Melbourne lebende Songwriterin Alex Lahey hat für Mitte Mai ihr zweites Album „The Best Of Luck Club“ angekündigt. Zusammen mit der Ankündigung teilt sie die Single und Self-Care-Hymne „Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself“, inklusive dazugehörigem Video.
Laheys bemerkenswertes Debüt „I Love You Like A Brother“ erhielt eine Fülle von Presselob. „The Best Of Luck Club“ knüpft dort an, wo das 2017er Album aufgehört hat, sprintet aber mit Killer-Hooks, einem scharfen Sinn für Humor und einem ausgefeilteren Sound vorwärts. Die Neigung, persönliche Befindlichkeiten aufzunehmen und in hymnischen Pop-Punk zu verwandeln, ist eine Stärke von Alex Lahey, während sie über Selbstzweifel, Trennungen, mentale Gesundheit, das Zusammenziehen mit ihrer Freundin, Vibratoren und der Generations-Langeweile singt. Hier dokumentiert sie „die höchsten Höhen und Tiefen“ ihres bisherigen Lebens.
Für „The Best Of Luck Club“ landete Lahey in Nashville und durchlief dort intensive Songwriting-Sessions: Sie schloss sich manchmal für zwölf Stunden in einen Raum ein und produzierte am Ende mehr als die Hälfte der Songs für die Platte – die meisten Instrumente spielte die Australierin sogar selbst. „In Nashville I was really inspired by the dive bar scene there and the idea that at these dive bars there’s no pretentious energy“, erklärt sie. „Whether you’ve had the best day of your life or the worst day of your life, you can just sit up at the bar and turn to the person next to you – who has no idea who you are – and have a chat. And the response that you generally get at the end of the conversation is ‚best of luck‘ so „The Best Of Luck Club“ is that place.“
Der einmonatige Aufnahmeprozess fand in ihrer Heimatstadt Melbourne statt. Alex Lahey koproduzierte das Album zusammen mit Catherine Marks (Local Natives, Wolf Alice, Manchester Orchestra), die sie als humorvolle Lehrerin anerkennt, was ihre Aufmerksamkeit für Details und Selbstvertrauen steigerte.
